                                   David Sakai

Hall of Fame Inductee David Sakai has been the most successful players to live in CT.

He and Club Director Peter Schuld played in a Boys Club league in 1957.

They met in a tournament at Yale University in 1973 and became practice partners at

Sakai's Clubin Waterbury CT. for seven years.

A typical workout consisted of 3 to 4 hours of game situation drills.

After a 10 minute break, they would play two best of five sets and put their practice into the sets.

An unprecedented accomplishment, Sakai has won at least one event at the US Open and Nationals

for a remarkable 25 consecutive years.

His incredible blocking and arguably the best backhand in the country has won him literally thousands of matches.
